Inspired by the time and difficulty involved with finding relevant agriculture information that could inform her farming decisions, Deniliquin farmer Airlie Trescowthick came up with the concept of a ‘‘personal farming assistant’’.

The Farm Table online platform, which brings together reputable information from across the country and allows farmers to download it to personalised dashboards, was an idea that came to Ms Trescowthick several years ago.

‘‘I’d come back from overseas a few years ago to the family family out in Holbrook (north of Wodonga) and by my mid-20s I knew I needed to make an impact and be useful, so I’d head out to the paddock to learn from dad,’’ she said.

‘‘I tried to engage in learning online because for a lot of people you can’t get away to training days and conferences but learning online was quite limited by information being everywhere, and it was difficult to understand quality and accuracy of the information. Then I came up with the idea of Farm Table.’’

After launching the online platform earlier this month, she will now work on developing a number of aspects of the program, including a farmer exchange with 12 young farmers from across the country.

By April, she expects the Farm Table platform will be upgraded to allow farmers to directly chat online and share video with each other of their own operations.

‘‘We’ll be touring around the country in March to speak to farmers and look at the farmer exchange,’’ Ms Trescowthick said.

‘‘We’ll be looking for people to visit so if you’d like to have us drop by let us know.’’
