Farm Table is delighted to welcome AgriShots to our Farm Table community.

Alice (better known as Al) Mabin, is a photographer and videographer, capturing the landscapes, lives and lifestyles of remote and outback Australia with a particular passion and enthusiasm for depicting the rural Australian story in its absolute essence. She is also a gatherer of stories and takes great pride in harnessing the true spirit of the country and its people in story telling form.

Al’s images and stories can be found in her award-winning coffee table books portraying the heart of Australian agriculture and its industries. She has also published a book, sharing an account of her own life where, as a child she was crushed by a 600kg horse in a riding accident. Defying expectation, Al learnt to walk and talk again and as a result of her extraordinary experiences, it led her to become a keynote speaker, a TEDx presenter, a best-selling author, as well as the winner of the 2015 Entrepreneur of the Year and fuelled in her a mission to connect rural communities with urban ones via the medium of photography and storytelling.

Whilst Al’s work evokes an almost mythical, rugged depiction of outback lives for city dwellers to idealise, she unapologetically depicts the realities of rural, remote and outback Australia and its often severe environments of drought, flood, dirt and sweat. Of long cattle drives and the harsh conditions and lives of the people who work the land.

The AgriShots library also captures contrasting aspects of Australian agriculture, with atmospheric photos of orchards at sunrise, crops ready for harvest, and the inside stories of transportation, processing plants, and ag industries. Al is a visual storyteller who is not scared of getting up close and personal.
